August evenings — dates via the park calendar · Sunset
Movies Under the Stars at Carl Schurz Park
The park's free outdoor film series continues this summer with family favorites on the sports court. Listed dates conflict across sources right now, so check the park calendar (or the Conservancy, 212-459-4455) before you bring the blanket — we'll print exact dates once the park's own listing confirms them.
Every Saturday · 9 AM – 2:30 PM
82nd Street Greenmarket
GrowNYC farmers market, running in Yorkville since 2006. Regional farms, year-round.
Every Sunday (seasonal) · Morning–afternoon

Free Summer Swim at John Jay Pool
The closest free outdoor city pool, open all of August — two blocks below our southern line, and we claim it anyway. Padlock required for lockers.
Wednesdays in August · Galleries open late — free admission until 9 PM (exception: Wed, Aug 5 the museum closes early at 5 PM)
Late-Night Summer Wednesdays at MCNY
Up on Fifth Avenue at 103rd — well outside our box, but worth the trip: the city's own museum stays open late on summer Wednesdays, free and family-friendly. Confirm hours before going; the Aug 5 early close comes straight from the museum's calendar.
